New Eden

After the Third World war and the unexplainable blast of radiation that enveloped the earth, human beings began to develop odd, never before seen, abilities. A new step in our evolution, known as Neo-Sapiens, Neo Humans or Meta Humans, began to emerge. The world feared them, individuals of extreme power, who could snuff out life with the snap of their fingers. However, unbeknownst to the world, the European Union, along with the combined efforts of Japan and the now titled United Republic of Canada (and America), had begun work on something known as “The Infinity Project” during the early stages of WW3. It was their goal at the time to create these types of Meta Humans to help them win the war.

Unfortunately they never succeeded. It wasn't until the meteorite crashed into the pacific that the subjects of Project Infinity displayed any superhuman properties. Woken from a long medically induced slumber where the five Meta Humans who would change the world.

With the assistance of the European Union, and the newly formed nation of New Eden, they created a government subsidized peace keeping initiative known as the League of Heroes, constructing what is commonly referred to as The Spire at the center of the floating city. From here the League was capable of mounting international rescue mission, and crime fighting programs to help make the world a better place.

Over the next few years they made attempts at recruiting new, promising Meta Humans to increase their numbers, and aid them in the battle against those who would use these newfound abilities to do the world harm. They were minorly successful. With approximately a dozen new heroes still working for the League today.
You, along with a few others, have been monitored for some time by the Leagues intelligence division and have been deemed worthy of becoming initiates under the wings of heroes such as Zenith, Rush, Sorceress and others.

You have all been contacted discretely and invited to take part in a tour of the Spire where you will be shown the facilities and introduced to those who work there. If you choose to accept you will be registered into the League database, be privy to lodging within the Spires upper floors where you will be trained, fed, and taken care of. You will also receive a salary to and most of the niceties of life.
The three of you, along with five others, were tasked to meet at the Olivia Sanders Metropolitan Airport where you were picked up in a bus and driven into the central island of New Eden to the Spire.

The Spire is a magnificent feat of engineering standing 2,800 feet high, now the tallest edifice in the world after the destruction of the Burj Khalifa in the war; it is the workplace of thousands of I.S.I.S employees as well as the members of the League of Heroes. Surveying the landscape it can be seen from anywhere in the city and lights up at night like a beacon of hope to those in need.

The bus is empty except for a man in black at the front, the driver, and the eight of you.
Sitting a few benches back from the front of the bus is a pale young man, in his late teens, with scruffy brown hair and glasses, keeping primarily to himself. Near the back of the bus a similarly aged girl, with short black hair and golden brown skin and a 20-or-so year old latino man with gelled black hair and sun glasses are in conversation. Keeping to himself, all the way at the back sits another boy in his mid teens with straight blonde hair, reading a comic book. And finally, near the front, pestering the man in black with questions is an african american boy in his late teens, early twenties, with short black hair.

Do any of you do, say, think anything?

Sitting as close as possible from the entrance of the bus is a 20-something years old Caucasian male. His haircut is functional, short and brown of color. He seems of average height and a bit scrawny, in short, the perfect example of an average Joe. Eric is his name, not that he's told anyone up to this point. No, he's been way too busy sitting quietly, coughing softly from time to time, while looking at the very little they can see from the tinted windows. The only thing interesting about him, if you're not too picky about what you find interesting, is his vintage Green Lantern hoody, plain green with the hero's logo on the torso. Other than that, the young man is wearing a worn out pair of jeans and a messenger backpack that appears mostly empty. He seems bored, or maybe preoccupied, it is hard to tell.

Mid-way through the bus, in seat 12, sits a small african american child. If one looked upon her, they would estimate her age to be somewhere in the young teens, perhaps 12 or 13. Her bored expression is blatant as her gaze jumps from tunnel light to tunnel light as the bus slowly makes its way to the Spire she has heard so much about. She has stared out the window ever since the bus had started moving, feeling an obvious unease around those older than her. Her beanie and tightnit dreadlocks help to obscure her visage from view. The girl slowly taps her fingers in beat to some rhythm playing from her earbuds. Meanwhile, she slowly swings her legs back and forth, obviously enthralled by the melody and the view. Undisturbed up to this point, nobody seems to know much about her. The girl had already sized up her fellow initiates, and found interest in but a couple. Nobody could have thought that she was thinking about her brother back at home. The only reason she even decided to "broadcast" her powers was so she could secure housing for her brother. If they were unwilling to help, and the wages were too low, she would just spend her time doing other things. After all, time is money.

A figure draped in a green-yellow cloak sits a few benches from the back row. Not a single body part can be seen. A staff can be seen perched next to him
He had been on the bus before the others and has remained in the same position the entire trip. He sits there, motionless, as though he were asleep. From him, a quiet humming sound can be heard and occasional huffs of air can be seen. Although, perhaps the strangest aspect is the sour aroma the lingers from him.

The bus remains quiet, save for the low chatter of the two in the back and the questions by the boy in the front.

“What’s it like working at The Spire? Have you met Zenith? What about Sorceress? She’s pretty hot ain’t she?”

The man in black doesn’t reply, he continues tapping away at his tablet and the driver lets out a little chuckle.

You had been underground for several minutes, which is rather common in New Eden, since the city is built on water, and creating new, adjacent, floating districts is rather expensive most of the surface is taken up by residential, commercial or industrial buildings save for a dozen or so major traffic ways that lead through the more populated areas of town. Lots of the roads are subterranean, a lot of subsidized transport, subways or over-ground bullet trains, so most of the traffic finds itself underground.

After a little while, however, the bus drives out an exit that leads to a small, discrete passageway. The bus bumps a bit before reaching a dead end. The driver turns to you all,
“No worries, it’ll just be a second.” Before opening his window and mumbling down at a man in black behind the window of a sort of toll booth. A minute passes as the driver hands over and takes back several documents and the wall ahead of you slowly opens. The bus driver thanks the booth man and drivers forward, stopping within a small chamber that lurches and begins to descend.

As the platform begins descending, an 8-bit version of a currently popular song can be heard echoing through the almost silent bus. Eric then begins quickly shuffling around to dig into his pocket, producing a couple years old smartphone. Unfazed by the miracle of being able to get a signal in such a place and without even looking at the screen, he answers the devices with a sleepy voice.

''Hey mom. . . Yeah like the note said, gonna be out all day. . . don't worry 'bout it, I'll get plenty o' sleep before my next shift. . . milk . . . anythin' else? . . . Love ye too mom.''

The young man then looks around as he puts his phone back in his pocket. It seems like the phone-call woke him up from the beginning of a nap. Which he tries to go back to as he leans against the window once again, arms crossed over his chest.

Upon reaching the toll booth, the african american girl sits up and slightly to attention. She stretches a little, and only the observant would notice her deep black eyes dart to the toll booth. When the wall started to slide open, she turned off the song on her smartphone and took out her earbuds, for the first time hearing the bus. She heard the interested and slightly obnoxious question stream coming from the boy in the front and the much fainter conversation from the back.

The girl quickly put her devices away in her pocket and leaned up and forward so that she could peep over the seat in front of her. As the platform started to descend, a strange song started to play. Pin-pointing the source as the scrawny man, the girl listened silently to his mumbled conversation.

Intrigued, she guessed his age to be around 20 ish, and was suspicious he had not made much of a name for himself. As he sunk back in his seat trying to fall back asleep, the girl sat back once more and listened for a couple minutes at the question of the boy up front. She only hoped he wouldn't be around her long.

As the platform continued to descend, she watched the walls once more, keeping that same distant look but obviously more aware than she had been while listening to her music.

The elevator descends for a few minutes, a low hum followed by a loud clicking sound as the locking mechanism attached to the wheels of the bus releases, and finally a hissing as a large, circular, door in front of the bus rotates and splits open. The bus continues forth into a beautiful plastiglass tunnel beneath the floating city submerged in the Atlantic Ocean. Neon lights line the tunnel covering the surrounding marine life with a bright, light blue glow. Schools of fish swim alongside the tunnel as well as around several submarine construction bots working endlessly on upgrading the cities aquatic foundation.

The ride through the tunnel takes less than five minutes. The bus slows as you reach a massive cylindrical tube that stretches from the base of the city down into the darkness below. In the darkness you see movement, unsurprisingly, the ocean is full of life, what’s odd is that the forms and silhouettes seem rather humanoid, but that could simply be a trick of the light.

A similarly circular door opens, allowing the bus to drive through, wherein an elevator comes to life, this time leading you upward. The man in black hushes the boy pestering him and turns to everyone,

“So, at the moment we’re directly beneath The Spire, another few minutes and we’ll be in the garage slash engineering department where you’ll get off and be escorted by someone or other to the upper floors of the tower.”

A beep rings from his tablet, he looks down at it, taps for a bit and looks back up, clearing his throat,

“I don’t believe it’s necessary to say, but discretion is strongly recommended, our organization has gone through lengths to assure that no one knows you are visiting The Spire, and it’s possible that not all of you will be interested in remaining here after your visit. We believe it is self-evident that none of you disclose anything you are about to see with anyone who is not a member of the League, or I.S.I.S. Not to mention the documents you’ve signed allowing us to take legal action on you if you do.”

He turns back around and sits.

''I signed somethin'?''

The question is asked on a sleepy tone, to no one in particular it seems. It is then followed by a long yawn. Eric had sat up when the man in black begun to talk, he seemed like the kind of guy to only say important stuff, and sleeping through that was not a brilliant idea.

''Oh yeah right, that huge stack of papers. Should'a really read it.''

He then adds after what seemed like an exceptional effort in concentration, the last part mumbled under his breath.

As the bus continued its path upwards and downwards and across the plastiglass tunnel, the african american girl stared in interest at the expanding ocean life.

As the man was giving the nessasary precautions to the passengers of the small bus, the girl listened intently.

“I don’t believe it’s necessary to say, but discretion is strongly recommended, our organization has gone through lengths to assure that no one knows you are visiting The Spire, and it’s possible that not all of you will be interested in remaining here after your visit. As the man finished, the girl heard the scrawny-looking man awaken in a mumbling mess. She had read the documents and was fully prepared to leave the Spire if it proved unworthy of her time. She just needed to locate the person in charge of housing so that she could talk with them. For the time being, the girl seems to be biding her time.

Most of the recruits sat at attention for the man in black before he retook his seat. The boy who had been pestering him stopped and leaned back his hands behind his head as the two who had been conversing in the back moved up front to get a look at the facility as the elevator reached its destination and the doors opened.

"Garage" was an understatement, with was a hangar of metal and machines, catwalks crisscrossed near the ceiling, which was at least 50 feet high, workers, engineers, technicians and the likes where everywhere. at the far end you saw machines cunstructing vehicles like a factory, to the left of the bus was a section dedicated to aviation, jets, helicopters, etc, all neatly parked and being worked on. To the right, tanks, humvees, those stereotypical black suvs everyone was always so keen on putting in movies.

The bus continued out of the elevator following a path through the chaos to a mechanical door that folded away revealing a parking lot. Nothing crazy here it seemed. Driving around the parked cars and continuing to the far end, the bus stopped near an elevator (personal sized) and a man and a woman who seemed to be waiting in front of it.

"Alright folks," the bus driver said turning to face you all, "End o' the line."

The man in black stood, "If you will all file out in a coordinated and appropriate manner, you will be escorted into the main facility."

Those near the front started walking out of the bus, the golden skinned girl thanking the driver and the man in black on the way out, leaving the three of you, and the blonde boy near the back in the bus.

After almost everyone exits the bus, Eric gets up and slowly walks out, yawning as he does so. When the bulk of the group approaches the two strangers, the young man stands at the back of the crowd, looking around at the large garage, before looking down at his phone, checking the time. Waiting for something to happen.

As the bus entered the "garage," the African american girl took note of her surroundings but took little care. The bus continued on until the passengers were beckoned off the bus. After rummaging through her supplies to make sure everything was with her and waiting until all the recruits but one were off, the girl stood and took note of the one remaining passenger. Curious but not curious enough, the girl walked to the front of the bus and emerged into the crowd of people, obviously awaiting both the remaining passengers of the bus as well as some form of instructions from the staff assembled. The girl joined the crowd, mostly much taller than she, and waited as well for the final passenger: the one that had interested her.

The green cloak flew off and the robotic figure that had remained hidden behind it the entire trip stood up. It's eyes beamed open with a red haze. Inner clanks could be heard as the machine whirred into it's senses and gained it's bearings. On one hand, it was skeletal in nature, though specific parts were bigger than others. mere seconds after standing, sounds of metal scratching on metal could be heard from outside the bus as one of the numerous vials spaced about the machine's arms and back injected themselves, the purple substance found within slowly going into the machine.

About ten seconds passed before the machine began to move, where it grasped the staff that had been perched next to it and slowly walked out of the bus, each step it took making a loud clang. It took a glance at anyone it passed that was still in the bus, but remained silent.

Outside, it took a look around it's surroundings before fixing it's gaze at the group that he shared a ride with and joining up with them.

Once the towering robotic figure made its way out of the bus the driver shut the door and drove away.

The man who was waiting mentioned something to the woman, before stepping forward, he looked in his thirties, well dressed, standing about six feet tall and very handsome, looked more like an actor than a member of an international peacekeeping force, but he looked familiar (Anyone with Expertise: Popular Culture roll that, or roll Intellect to recall where you had seen him). He had well kept, short, black hair, green eyes and a perfect smile.

He looked at the man in black and asked, “Is this all of them?” the man in black nodded.
“Great! Welcome everyone! My name is Donovan Bates, but you all can call me Don,” he shook the hands of those nearest to him, “And my friend over there,” he continued, turning to point to the woman who was standing a few feet back, arms crossed, tapping her foot and chew what was probably gum, “Is Zack.” She stared at the crowed as she blew a giant bubble; after it popped she nodded her head. She was nearly six foot, highly athletic, wore cargo pants and a tank top, and had a half shaved head of florescent pink hair and black eyes. There were a few scars littered across what skin was visible and she had a long, intricate Japanese sleeve tattoo running down her left arm.
“We’re going to be in charge of your initiation to the League, so if you follow us we’re going to take you to the upper levels.” Donovan finished.

Zack turns and places her hand on a scanner near the elevator. The door opens nearly immediately and Don ushers everyone into it.

Eric did not pay much attention to the man that was talking, as something much more interesting just stepped out of the bus. A thing he was staring at with no discretion whatsoever.

''Things are lookin' up now.'' He whispered to himself, a large grin slowly spreading across his lips. His excitement was quickly dosed off though, as he let out another long yawn, before mumbling.

''Damn, coffee would be the shit right 'bout now.''

He then followed the rest of the group as they headed toward the elevator, his hands in the pocket of his hoodie.

The African-american girl heard rather than saw the mechanical creature awaken. Emotionless at a glance, all but the most aware would not have noticed the anticipation the girl displayed as the final passenger moved throughout the bus. Upon departing through the bus doors, the girl's curiosity was well met: before her stood a robotic creation unlike what she had seen before. She stared at it for a half a second before shifting her view away.

The girl turned around to face the new directors as they began to speak.

The girl sized up the two as she listen to their words carefully. When they finished, the girl followed them into the gaping door.

The robotic figure paid close attention to the man speaking, attempting to put a name to that familiar face.

At the same time, he took a gander at his surroundings, noting as many small, quirky details as he could. The place certainly seemed of high quality; If what he saw of the League of Heroes was anything to go by, anything less would be shameful.

Afterwards, he directed his focus at the members of the group, trying to see if he could discern what their abilities were at a glance. While they didn't seem like much, there had to be a reason they were all recruited as well

Funny, he thought to himself, Ten years ago, I would have taken these people at face value and made an immediate impression, deeming them unworthy of my presence. I look forward to seeing their powers first-hand.

You all shuffled into the elevator which was a grandiose thing, large enough to fit you all without any issue. Along the side of the door was a panel that housed what had to be at least two hundred buttons indicating floor numbers and department names.
Zack pressed the button for FLOOR 175 before pressing a button titled PRIVATE. There was a peep and a small voice asked authorization, Zack placed her hand on an adjacent scanner and the elevator booted up.
Zack leaned on a railing next to the door and Donovan turned away from the elevator door to face you all.

"Alright! Let's begin the orientation. The eight of you have been invited to the League of Heroes because we believe you have something to bring to the table. Some of you may have been petty criminals before, others might have live completely normal lives, it makes no difference to us now, your slate is wiped clean. There are forces at work against the good of humanity and we want to make sure that all of you, those rare few that have the ability to help, do."
He turns to Zack, who just nods, popping another bubble. He continues,
"But don't think your time here will be easy. We will accommodate your needs, provide housing if you need it, feed you, take care of you, but we expect results in return. Training will be arduous, and what you will face outside of this tower will be dangerous." He pauses and then smiles a perfect smile, "But that's for another time, let's get to the cool stuff." He turns to Zack and mutters, "We almost there Pixel?"

You all recognize the name Pixel, I will post details you might know on the League of Heroes menu shortly.

The door dings signalling your arrival on the 175th floor and Donovan turns and escorts you all out into a perfectly clean and sterile white hallway lined with a few on duty guards in full combat gear standing at the ready, "Welcome to the 175th floor, everything from here up to floor 200 belongs uniquely to the League of Heroes. Residential floors for all of you will be somewhere on the 190th probably, the rest of the floors consist of training facilities, living and entertainment spaces, business locals and conference rooms, and finally the top 5 floors are reserved for the top members of the League only."

As he describes the layout of the floors you all arrive at a reception area where there sits a desk manned by an attractive blonde woman, "I would like you all to meet the Leagues marvelous secretary, Annya Konstantinovna, our Russian beauty."
She looks up at him deadpan and says in a thick accent, "I don't have time for your shit Donnie, He's come over for a visit and I have paper work up to here!" before unlocking the door and waving you through, "Welcome to the League by the way!" She says to all the newcomers with a gorgeous smile that betrays the ice cold personality she gave Donovan.

Don turns down to Eric, "She loves me, just doesn't like to let it show in public." Before chuckling as he leads you into what looks like a living room. The only difference is it had to be twenty times the size of any living room you'd seen before. A giant open space with a ceiling that had to be thirty feet high, halfway up a balcony that ran the circumference of the room. The living room itself was populated with sofas and chairs, a large television, a dinning table and kitchen, a large bookshelf along the eastern wall, and a huge glass window/wall that looked out over the entire city from a precariously high distance.

"This is the common area, we have all the food you need in the kitchen, just keep yourself relatively healthy," he laughs, calling out to a man sitting on the couch watching the news, "Robert! get over here!" The man looks at you all before sighing and walking over, "This man here is Robert Descoteaux, he's going to accompany you all to your quarters, Zack and I need to go fetch your cards, cant have you walking around without them or you'll lock yourself in someplace."

The two of them walk away, leaving you all with a dour looking middle-aged french-man with a puffy mustache and balding hair.

He points to the stairs on the eastern wall,
"Follow me, I'll take you to your quarters."

The Curator

Eric seemed to be listening for once, as the PR guy threw his little welcoming speech at them, remaining mostly silent, if not for a dismissive click of his tongue a the petty criminal remark.

''Ye people too fancy for elevator music 'round here?'' Eric asked on a sarcastic tone to no one in particular as the elevator ascended to the upper floors, the extreme show of opulence displayed by the organization having left him unfazed so far.

As Don commented to him about the secretary, the young man couldn't help but chuckle a little. ''I can see that.''

''So, Robert. After seein' all this, I gotta ask.'' Eric began, while gesturing to the immense room. ''We gonna be Super-Heroes or some kinda Super Royalty?'' His tone wasn't too serious, but a touch of something approaching resentment could be found within the comment.

Kaleidoscope

As the two introduced what would become the recruit's new homes (assuming each of the eight stayed), the african american girl was fascinated by the various things the man talked about. The tour continued through receptionist area and the girl took note of the amusing charade put on by the Russian woman and the escort, Don.

As the group entered into the living space that was bigger than any she had ever seen before. The girl was shocked there was no people in the common area besides the singular man that would inevitably become the unwilling host of the recruits.

As the duo of primary escorts began to turn away, the girl stepped forward and grabbed the man's hand.

"Excuse me for interrupting, but I need to talk to you about housing. Can we take a couple steps away?"

The girl and the duo take a short stroll away from the group and the girl continues to speak, but quiet enough that only the three could hear.

The girl stood tense and noticeably uncomfortable while asking her question, and awaited a reply.

After having a conversation with the duo and thanking them for something, the girl returns back to the group and follows them as they progress to their housing quarters.

The robotic figure stood in the common room silently, admiring the craftsmanship, before following the man named Robert to the group's quarters

New Eden

Robert looked at Erik, and said, in his french-canadian accent "With what we have planned for you all I doubt you will have time to enjoy the niceties of this place." before turning towards the stairs, stopping, turning back and finishing, "At least for the time being,"
He beckoned everyone to follow, and begun leading you all up the stairs and down a hall filled with large, windowed offices and conference rooms.
"This is as far as anyone who is not a member of the League can go, and is where clients, politicians, the likes meet with the higher ups." You walk along the corridor before he the black teen that had been pestering the agent on the bus spoke up,
"Am I seeing things or is that...?" Robert stops the group to look towards where the boy was point, through the glass panes you can all see into an office you could see 3 figures in what looked like heated debate, two standing, one seated around a long conference table.
"Ah yes, as you can see," he points towards one of the standing figures, leaning over the desk, fingers massaging his temples and shaking his head. He was dressed in a completely white, piped, combat outfit with orange trimmings and a long orange cape, and wore a full faced orange mask. He was tall and exceptionally built, and you all recognized him, "there is our leader Zenith, 'The Strongest Man in the World' as people call him, comparable in strength only to the Atomic Man aaand," he shifts his hand towards the other standing figure in the room, "Typhon, the King of Atlantis." Typhon himself was a giant, standing what had to be eight feet tall, a mass of pure muscle, he bore both long, grey, wild curled hair and a long curled beard with a face that seemed identical to an ancient Grecian statue carved from marble. Finally the third member in the room who had been seated made her way to the door, cracked it open and peeked out at the group, she was a beautiful woman in what looked to be her late twenties with short black hair, pure white eyes and a tight green and yellow combat suit complete with a long green cloak with a very high collar,
"Greetings everyone, I'm Erika, sorry Oliver and I couldn't be there to greet you all in person, we're having some, diplomatic issues with the hulking mass of royalty in there. But we'll see you all after lunch, have fun." She finishes with a smile before closing the door as you hear Typhon bellow "WE MUST HUNT IT DOWN..." the sentence cut out as the door closed.

Robert coughed before motioning everyone forward towards an elevator all the while explaining, "It seems this giant crazy creature escaped the Atlantean prisons and is hiding somewhere off the coast of France, Typhon wants to deploy his armies to hunt the beast down but requires permission from the League and I.S.I.S. which Zenith is refusing because of how violent and out of control the Atlanteans can be." he stops to look at you all as the elevator comes to a halt on the 190th floor, "But that's neither here nor there, I doubt most of you even new Atlantis existed, I know I didn't." He lets out a light chuckle from beneath his bushy moustache before leading you all out and down a hallway that ends in a T intersection, "Alright, if I remember, our two young ladies have rooms 9 and 10 down the right hall," he points down the right path of the intersection, "and our six young men, or, well, maybe five?" he mutters as he looks over the robot, "have rooms 1 through 6 down the left corridor." He points down the left hall, "All the rooms are identical, so take your pick, get comfortable, those who checked in luggage to be transferred will receive it shortly, and either Don or Pixel should be up with your ID cards soon. Don't leave this area until they arrive." he stops for a second, strokes his moustache and nods, "I think that's it, I'll see you all after lunch." before walking back down the corridor to the elevator and leaving you all alone.

Greyhound

Once Robert departs the black teen lets out a low whistle, "Well then," he chuckles, "I suppose we might as well introduce ourselves," He turns around extending his hand towards Eric but speaking to everyone, "The names Sawyer Jerome, pleasure to make your acquaintance."
